Can you introduce yourself and provide an overview of your role in our community?
I’m Jill Haire a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Addiction Professional, Hospice-Trained Grief Counselor, and Author of “Relax On Impact,” which became the “ROI Program” and is accredited by the Florida Counselors Association. I am also the owner of Free Flow Counseling- a telehealth private practice I have owned for 18 years!
What inspired you to dedicate your life's work to nurturing the mind, body, and spirit of individuals in Orlando?
My own life was healed and recreated as I entered Twelve Step Recovery and underwent two years of deep therapy. I returned to college and became educated, credentialed, and authentic. Then I became empowered and had much to offer from my new place of fulfillment. Few things bring me greater joy than providing supportive education for individuals, couples, and families who seek authentic relationships with God, themselves, and others.
Could you share some specific initiatives or programs you are involved in that contribute to the health and well-being of our community members?
I currently work with Cigna Insurance and support people struggling with addiction and relationship issues. In therapy sessions, I provide the skills I garnered in both my experience in a residential treatment facility and in hospice. I learned to confront and to comfort. I teach the basic emotional availability, which very few of us learned at an early age.
How do these initiatives address the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals in Orlando?
My goal is to help move people from “generational dysfunction” to “generational change” through the work my clients and I do in therapy.
Can you describe a recent success story or memorable moment that highlights the positive impact of your work on the lives of community members?
One of my former clients, who was twenty-four years old at the time, struggled with obesity and addictive eating habits, feeling trapped in both his body and his life. After a year of weekly therapy, he lost nearly all of the excess weight. He then moved out of his parents' house and found success as an executive for a large company.
Are there any upcoming projects or goals you're excited about that will further benefit the Orlando community?
My book: ‘Relax On Impact-Transformation and Empowerment Through Surrender’ is also now with the ‘ROI ™ Program’-is in the process of offering Counselor Programs with Curriculums, a 2D movie that will hopefully become 3D, and a possible children’s book format included tool!
How can individuals in our community access the offerings or services provided by your initiative?
For now, access is through scheduling my therapist services, and buying and reading my book within the parable format in which it’s written.
What is your favorite mental health quote, tidbit, or mantra?
“Relax on impact.” These were the words I heard from God just moments before the impact of a high-speed car accident.
The driver, a woman drugged up from a recent hospital stay, pulled out in front of me while I was going 50 miles an hour. My life was saved by following the wisdom of these words. I closed my eyes and put my head down- and I survived. I later realized this comment wasn’t just about the car crash, but most importantly about LIFE.
