Written by: Lauran Hahn, LMCH

Do you ever find yourself struggling with anxiety? Are you looking for ways to find relief and feel more at ease?

As an anxiety therapist in Orlando, I help my clients find activities they can do to help alleviate anxiety before it takes over.

The vibrant energy of downtown Orlando can be exciting, but it can also pose a unique set of hurdles for those navigating anxiety. As an anxiety therapist, I understand the challenges of seeking moments of peace in the bustling heart of downtown Orlando. Sometimes finding activities that offer rest without inducing stress can feel almost impossible.

After living in downtown Orlando I have spent a lot of time searching for activities I can share with my clients struggling with anxiety. Whether you're a local seeking new therapeutic escapes or a visitor eager to experience the city with a mindful touch, I'm here to share a few of my favorite places! Engaging in anxiety-friendly activities can be a great way to relax and enjoy your time.

Here are my suggestions for anxiety-friendly activities in Downtown Orlando:

1. Visit Lake Eola Park:

One of my favorite afternoon activities after a hectic day at work is taking a stroll around Lake Eola Park. The serene surroundings and swan boats on the lake provide a calming environment. Exploring the serenity of Lake Eola Park while downloading an audiobook is another delightful way to combine leisure and learning.

2. Pottery Class at Crealdé School of Art:

Crealdé School of Art, located in Winter Park, just north of downtown Orlando, offers pottery classes for individuals of all skill levels. Experienced instructors create a supportive environment for learning and creating with clay. Working with clay requires concentration and attention to detail, and the process of molding and shaping the clay encourages mindfulness, helping individuals stay focused on the present moment.

3. Mediation Class at The Peaceful Peacock:

The Peaceful Peacock is a wellness studio situated in the Mills 50 District. They offer various meditation and yoga classes that you can explore by checking their schedule. You can also participate in their guided meditation sessions and other mindfulness activities. This is a perfect opportunity to center yourself and connect with other individuals who share similar interests.

4. Visit The Downtown Orlando Farmers' Market:

During weekends, I like to go to the farmers' market for a more laid-back atmosphere. The farmers market located in downtown Orlando offers a wide variety of local produce, handmade crafts, and sometimes live music. I suggest visiting the market when it opens to avoid the large crowds.

5. The Boheme Book Club at Grand Bohemian Hotel:

The Grand Bohemian Hotel, situated in the bustling downtown area of Orlando, offers the perfect venue for occasional book club meetings. The Boheme Book Club is a one-of-a-kind experience that combines literature with luxury. It provides a chance to socialize and relax at the same time, making it an excellent way to meet new people.

6. Stroll The Milk District:

Exploring the Milk District is a refreshing change of pace due to its artsy and diverse vibe. It is perfect for discovering unique shops, cafes, and street art. I love visiting the Milk District and taking a slow walk with friends for a peaceful afternoon filled with a little shopping.

I always remind my clients that everyone has different preferences. Please feel free to customize these suggestions to your liking and comfort level. If you've discovered any anxiety-friendly activities in Downtown Orlando, please feel free to share them with me.
