Anxiety Therapy Orlando: 6 Mindfulness Spots Around Downtown

Anxiety Therapy Orlando: 6 Mindfulness Spots Around Downtown

Written by: Lauran Hahn, LMHC

Do you struggle with finding time for yourself? Does self-care seem to get pushed to the back burner? Do you realize you’re running on fumes, but find it difficult to carve out time for yourself?

As an anxiety therapist in Orlando, I help my clients develop a plan for self-care that can help alleviate anxiety before it takes over.

When I have a moment to myself between work, motherhood, and other life responsibilities, I practice my favorite form of self-care, mindfulness. As an anxiety therapist, I always make it a point to stress the importance of mindfulness to my clients. I share how my meditations and grounding techniques center and empower me to take on life with renewed strength and determination!

As our office is situated in close proximity to Lake Eola, I get the opportunity to spend some time around the lake during the work week. It's always a pleasure to see some of our clients taking a moment to practice mindfulness before or after their sessions. Downtown Orlando is blessed with numerous beautiful spots where you can enjoy and practice mindfulness. Here are some of my favorite options that I would like to recommend to you as well.

1. Lake Eola: Lake Eola is a fantastic park that anyone can visit at any time of the day. If you haven't been there yet, you're in for a treat! The park offers a great atmosphere for relaxation, with a beautiful lake, swan boats, and a picturesque walking path. You can easily find some quiet spots near the lake or under the trees to meditate and relax outdoors. Even on hot days, you can still enjoy your meditation in the shaded benches and pavilion. So why not take a break from your busy schedule and head over to Lake Eola Park to practice some peace and tranquility?

2. Orlando Power Yoga: One of my favorite yoga studios located in the downtown area of Orlando is Orlando Power Yoga. They offer a variety of classes throughout the day for you to enhance your mindfulness and practice meditation. Classes like warm yin yoga, ashtanga yoga, or half yoga/half breathwork are available for you to experience. Orlando Power Yoga provides a calming and inviting atmosphere for both beginner and seasoned practitioners of yoga.

3. Harry P. Leu Gardens: The Harry P. Leu Gardens is a peaceful botanical garden located just a short drive from downtown Orlando. Visitors can enjoy meditating among a variety of plants and landscapes, making it an ideal location that is peaceful and calming. Additionally, the gardens host several events throughout the year, including movie nights, story times, and outdoor holiday parties. We recommend planning your meditation and mindfulness during one of the events so that you can take full advantage of all that the gardens have to offer. Since the gardens are located a little ways from downtown Orlando, it's best to plan your visit accordingly.

4. Community Center 729: Community Center 729 is dedicated to providing tools and services to assist you on your journey and help you reconnect with your inner self, as well as align with your higher power! It is an ideal location to practice mindfulness because their aim is to empower and support you in remembering your true essence, and to awaken the divine within. This beautiful place creates a sacred space in Orlando that supports local artisans, honors both ancient and modern cultures, and fosters magical energy within our community.

5. Dickson Azalea Park: If you're on the hunt for a spot that's picture-perfect for the great outdoors, Dickson Azalea Park is the place for you! I absolutely adore coming here with my camera to snap shots of the breathtaking flowers and the calming creek. There's just something so peaceful and relaxing about taking some time to be outdoors and capture some amazing images.

6. Thornton Park: This charming neighborhood provides a serene atmosphere with its greenery and parks, making it an ideal place for a peaceful walk and outdoor meditation. After a refreshing moment in Thorton Park, you can indulge yourself in reading a good book, sipping a cup of coffee in a cozy café, or exploring the various boutique stores that Throton Park has to offer.

It’s important for me to let you know that mindfulness and meditation can be practiced almost anywhere. Whether you're sitting in a peaceful pocket in your home, enjoying a calming sunset on your drive home, or discovering a quiet room in your office, you can always create your own peaceful space for mindfulness. I encourage you to find these pockets of peace to practice your meditation wherever you can so you help calm your mind and ease your anxiety.
