Teenage Counselor Shares 31 Healthy Activities for Teens in Orlando

As a group practice that specializes in teenage counseling in Orlando, we know what it’s like to constantly figure out exciting activities for your teenager! With Spring Break just around the corner, we brainstormed a comprehensive list of activities for you and your teen to enjoy in Orlando. We included ideas for different interests, ages, and activities to account for those rainy Florida days.

1. Visit the local Orlando YMCA.

The YMCA offers a variety of activities including swimming, basketball, dance classes, and more. You can visit the Central Florida YMCA, Dr. Phillips YMCA, or Lake Nona YMCA. This is a great way to get some exercise while also meeting new people in the Orlando area.

2. Volunteer!

There are many opportunities for teenagers to volunteer in Orlando. Some of our favorite places to volunteer are Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Give Kids The World Village, and Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Participating in community service activities is a great way to give back to the Orlando community.

3. Visit the Orlando Theme Parks.

Orlando is known for its famous theme parks! This is a mix of fun and healthy for your teen to enjoy. The theme parks allow for a lot of physical activity such as waiting in line and going on rides while also having a blast!

4. Grab some friends and go on a hike.

We are so lucky to live in this beautiful state with great weather! Orlando offers many beautiful nature trails for hiking or taking leisurely walks. This is a great way to get some fresh air, exercise, and enjoy the scenic views Orlando has to offer. Some of my favorite nature trails to visit are Wekiva Springs State Park, Blue Spring State Park, and Moss Park.

5. Visit Orlando’s Farmer's Market.

Visiting a local farmer's market is a great way to learn about healthy eating and support Orlando’s local farmers. Try some fresh produce and find new recipes to cook at home. Here are some of Orlando’s best farmers markets Winter Garden Farmers Market, Orlando Farmers Market, and East End Market.

6. Bike through the Orlando trails.

Rent a bike and explore the numerous bike trails around the city. You can ride along scenic paths, lakes, and parks for fun all while enjoying a healthy workout. When we’re not working with clients we all enjoy visiting Cady Way Trail, Orlando Urban Trail, and West Orange Trail.

7. Try Yoga.

We all love taking classes at Orlando Power Yoga! Check out our self-care spotlight: Orlando Power yoga to learn more about this great studio in Orlando that offers yoga classes for all levels. Yoga is a great way to improve flexibility, balance, and relaxation.

Activities That Parents and Teenagers can Enjoy Together

Rent a kayak and explore the many lakes and waterways in the Orlando area. It's a great way to bond and enjoy the outdoors. This activity will allow for great conversation and it’s also a fun team-building activity for you and your teenager.

9. Take a cooking class.

Not only is a cooking class a great bonding experience it’s also a way for your teenager to learn a new skill. Once you learn how to cook this healthy meal together you can then share it with your family. Check for cooking classes at your local Publix to find an Apron Cooking School near you.

10. Try rock climbing.

Rock climbing is a great way to challenge yourself physically and mentally. If you’ve never tried it before this is the perfect time to try it together. Many gyms in the area offer indoor rock climbing for all levels.

11. Play a competitive game of mini-golf.

Who doesn’t love a game of mini-golf? Putt-putt is a fun way for families to be active together and enjoy a leisurely afternoon with a little competition. You can do this fun activity and then grab some ice cream!

Activities Teenagers can Enjoy With Friends
